Parki ar minda (“No bag, please”) is an environmental organisation that has been helping residents of Tbilisi sort their waste since 2020. In 2025, the team engaged 25,000 Tbilisi residents in waste sorting and collected 115 tonnes of plastic, glass and cardboard. The organisation works with 65 volunteers who collect and sort waste at three locations across the city, in the Vake, Saburtalo and Chugureti districts.
I have lived in Tbilisi since 2022, but I first heard about the organisation earlier, from a friend who has been volunteering with Parki ar minda for almost six years. My desire to break out of the paralysis caused by the looming environmental catastrophe led me to this project. Through getting to know the organisation’s volunteers, I found inspiration in communities that continue to act despite growing eco-anxiety.
