Participants aged 14 to 21, all living in exile, explored environmental issues in Batumi and possible ways of addressing them. Photography became a way to look closely at the region, its nature and environment — an attempt to better understand the place that has welcomed us and to leave behind a thoughtful and careful trace.
Over four weeks, the participants developed visual research projects focused on one of three environmental themes:
Water
Focus: the sea, rivers, rainwater, tap water
Question: how do we use the most valuable resource on Earth?
Trace
Focus: waste, construction debris, abandoned sites
Question: what remains after us?
Living
Focus: animals and plants in the city
Question: how do they survive alongside us?
